Placeholder Text was presented as part of the 2022 Australian Youth Dance Festival Performance [Re]generate, performed alongside works by 6 other preprofessional companies around Australia. The piece was satirical and light hearted in nature, playing with audience expectation in relation to a “youth” or “emerging artist” contemporary performance context. It used pre-recorded tracks of the dancer’s voices, that described and choreographed the performance “live”, playing into choreographic cliches and tropes.

The Australian Youth Dance Festival is held biennially, and is an opportunity for the Youth Dance companies of Australia to come together, exchange company cultures and knowledge, as well as participating in workshops and think tank programs.
